Norwalk, Connecticut, offers a variety of pickleball facilities and programs for players of all skill levels. Where to Play

Woodward Park: Located at 155 Woodward Avenue, this park features four dedicated outdoor pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. Amenities include restrooms. Courts can be reserved through the city's ActiveNet system.

Mathews Park: Situated at 295 West Avenue, this park offers three dedicated tennis courts, two of which have pickleball lines. Reservations can be made via the ActiveNet system.

Nathan Hale Middle School: Found at 176 Strawberry Hill Avenue, this location provides two dedicated tennis courts, both lined for pickleball. Reservations are available through ActiveNet.

Intensity: Located at 490 Westport Avenue, this indoor facility offers 12 hard courts with permanent lines and portable nets. A membership is required to play. Amenities include restrooms.

Northeast Athletic Center: 365 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. indoor pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets, open to players of all skill levels. Membership or drop-in fees are required for access, and amenities include restrooms and a pro shop.
Lessons
Intensity provides pickleball programs for all levels, including introductory clinics, private lessons, and seasonal "drop-in" clinics.
The City of Norwalk's Recreation and Parks Department does, from time to time, host Adult Pickleball classes for beginners, advanced beginners, and intermediate players. To see if any are scheduled soon and to register for the Pickleball classes, please create or sign up using an Active Net account. If you don't have an account, you can open one by visiting https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/norwalkctrecandparks.
The Northeast Athletic Center offers pickleball lessons and clinics for players of all skill levels, including beginners and advanced players. Certified instructors provide group and private sessions focused on improving skills and gameplay.
Events
Norwalk Recreation and Parks hosts open play sessions for the pickleball community. The schedule for open play is posted on the city's website. Additionally, Norwalk Recreation and Parks encourages players to join the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Pickleball TeamReach app to organize matches and stay connected. The group code is "norwalkrp".
Information for Visitors
Visitors to Norwalk can enjoy pickleball at several public parks. While reservations are not required, they are recommended to guarantee court time. Reservations can be made through the city's ActiveNet system. For a comprehensive list of facilities and amenities, visit the city's website.
Pickleball Play Rules
- Courts are first-come, first-served unless reserved with a permit from NRP.
- Limit play to 30 minutes if others are waiting.
- All skill levels are welcome. Choose courts based on skill level.
- Play rotation begins when courts are full and players are waiting.
Pickleball Play Rotation
Players place paddles on the rack at the court that matches their skill level. Once a paddle is stacked, existing players finish their game to 11 points and rotate off.

If 6 or fewer players are waiting:
- Two-on, two-off policy applies.
- Winning team stays for one more match. Then, they must leave if others are waiting.

If 6 or more players are waiting:
- Four-on, four-off policy applies.
- Both teams leave, and the next four players in the queue take the court.
Tennis & Pickleball Court Rules
- Reservations must be made through Norwalk Recreation & Parks (NRP).
- No private instruction or classes unless arranged by NRP.
- No glass containers on courts.
- No outside equipment, including portable nets, chairs, or tents.
- Only players allowed on the court. Children under 10 need adult supervision.
- No pets (except service animals), skateboards, bicycles, or scooters.
- No illegal substances or alcohol.
- Athletic footwear and proper clothing required.
- No abusive or inappropriate language.
- The City of Norwalk is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Courts are closed when nets are down.
